Penduline Tit

Remiz pendulinus

On the 9th of November 2025, the first Severnside record of Penduline Tit was reported at Aust Warth. A quick visit to the reed bed below Aust cliff ensued but with no sign of the bird, I realised the bird had probably been seen elsewhere. I guessed the Typha over grown pool near Cake Pill on Northwick Warth was a likely place to search. A quick dash there proved to be correct and a female type Penduline Tit showed quite well here off and on for 8 days.

Fast forward to the 16th of December 2025 when 3 Penduline Tits were found half a Kilometre from the original bird on Aust Wetland. The 3 birds remained elusive and mobile with sightings again at Cake Pill pool and one at Pilning Wetland. Three remained at Aust Wetland into 2026.

Below are some images including the first one on the 9th November in the last minutes of daylight.
